France in Crisis: Election Results Deepen Political and Economic Turmoil

The recent French legislative elections have resulted in a highly fragmented national assembly, marking an unprecedented hung parliament under France’s Fifth Republic. This election, characterized by the highest voter turnout since 1997, resulted in three primary political blocs of nearly equal size, none of which secured the 289 seats required for a majority. Following closely was President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble grouping with 162 deputies, and Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement National (RN) with 143 deputies. Let’s look at the political and economical implications of this situation.
